Harry Marx the owner of Hi Grade Imports, showed signs of becoming a collector early in his youth. Boyhood collections of bird nests and rocks gave way to art, duck decoys, automobiles and firearms. A lifelong hunter, his love of guns always ranked only slightly below his love of cars. A GM dealer for 47 years, he had a gun shop in the dealership for much of that time.
Hi Grade Imports was established by Jim Lagiss, the original U.S. Importer of Arrieta shotguns from the Spanish Basque Country. When Jim retired, Hi Grade Imports passed to his longtime friend and hunting companion, Harry Marx.
Over the years, Harry has imported the Basque shotguns from Manufactures Arrieta, Pedro Arrizabalaga, Armas Keman and Grulla Armas. Along the way were other alliances with David McKay Brown, Ferlib and James Purdey & Sons.
Harry was his own importer, one of only a few in the U.S. and he frequently imported firearms for hunters who have purchased guns while hunting in Europe.
As a hunter himself, Harry is always interested in the best of shotguns and rifles available at many price points.Currently Harry stocks over 17 Gun Manufacturers, See the list of manufacturers under the Gun tab. Long with selling guns, he carries a verity of accessories, from Ammunition, Scopes, Binoculars, Cleaning Kits, Gun Cases and much more.
With the shop in the midst of the Pacific Flyway, there is easy access to his duck club, The Lonney Spooney, and a hearty enjoyment of duck season. The North Grassland area of Los Banos, California, has been home of the shop for over 14 years, it was in Gilroy, perhaps the reason for garlic to be the dominant flavor in the kitchen on those nights when harry cooks for his friends!
Along with the new guns in the shop, Harry has an extensive selection of used guns. Come into day check out our inventory!
